Double Dip Delights
As we slowly begin to emerge from the economic recession, we cannot fail to recognise the business cycle in action just like our last ‘double dip’ in 1979. Does that mean we haven’t learnt or grown from our experiences, or that we are just part of an inevitable economic balancing act?
Think back to the 70’s – no computers or internet, but lava lamps and smoking in the office were cool! Things have certainly progressed, and business attitudes have too. Travel, technology, communications and conditions have all rapidly improved so why do we seem to be in the same situation?
Economic indicators can be monitored to pre-empt the economic cycle, however, we are often too far down the line to turn back, and unable to predict the factors that can all contribute to a recession or depression. One thing we can look forward to though is a steady recovery and then the positive peak that we’ve all been waiting for. Think 80’s car phones the size of a small child, yuppie suits with shoulder pads like American footballers and Harvey Wallbangers.
Just what will our boom bring? We’re looking forward to seeing it soon!
