It seems with the use of modern technology and ease of communication, transparency in business is at an all time high. Now more than ever it is a case of ‘do as I do, not as I say’ for companies whose ethics and practices are on show (whether they like it or not).
Businesses cannot so easily get away with marketing one front whilst initiating another. In 2012, when Nokia promoted their new mobile imaging technology using an alternative professional camera rather than their own product, the value and respect consumers placed on that product and ultimately the company was immediately undermined.
Honesty certainly does seem to be the best policy when it comes to building brand loyalty and trust.
