The new cookie law comes into force today (26 May 2011). The regulations make it clear that UK businesses and organisations running websites in the UK need to get consent from visitors to their websites in order to store cookies on the visitors computers. Cookies are created when a user loads a particular website and this website sends information to the browser which creates a text file. Every time the user revisits the same website, the browser retrieves and sends this file to the website’s server.
